In My Mailbox # 8: June 26 – July 2, 2011 Edition

In My Mailbox

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren.

The purpose of the meme is to highlight books that you have received in your mailbox over the past week.  For the books that I received that have not been released yet, I will give you the synopsis of the books and not just the names.

Now that the postal strike is over, I have started getting books again!  I think I may have done a happy dance around my office when I got the first package.

Anyway, on to what I received this week…

Review: Abandon

Abandon

Title: Abandon

Author: Meg Cabot

Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal Romance

Rating: PG

Publisher: Point

Publication Date: April 26, 2011

My Rating: 3***

[box] Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can’t help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she’s never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.

But now she’s moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.

Only she can’t. Because even here, he finds her. That’s how desperately he wants her back. She knows he’s no guardian angel, and his dark world isn’t exactly heaven, yet she can’t stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.

But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.[/box]

Abandon was the first book written by Meg Cabot that I have ever read. I honestly had very high expectations for this book – due in part by all the buzz it was receiving on the internet, and because of the author herself. While I did enjoy the book, it didn’t live up to my expectations at all. [Read more...]

In My Mailbox #2/Mailbox Monday: May 15-21, 2011 Edition

So I decided to do a combined In My Mailbox and Mailbox Monday post this week.  I may continue doing it this way from now on.

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi over at The Story Siren.  Mailbox Monday is being hosted this month over at Mari Reads.  The purpose of both meme’s is pretty much the same thing.  They highlight books that you have received in your mailbox over the past week.  I must say that I keep receiving a lot of books and I really love it.

Here is what I received this week.

1. Island of Lost Girls by Jennifer McMahon

2. Lily of the Nile by Stephanie Dray

3. Memoirs of a Bitch by Francesca Petrizzo

4. Lost in the River of Grass by Ginny Rorby

5. When you Dare by Lori Foster

In My Mailbox #1: May 8 – 14, 2011

In My Mailbox is hosted by Kristi @ The Story Siren

So it’s been a pretty busy week for me.  I am not sure if this is a good or bad thing yet.  All in all, it looks like there will be plenty of reviews on this first week of the blog.  Lucky for me that I have already read 3 of the books and just have to write up the reviews.

Here is what I received this week.

1. The Poet Prince by Kathleen McGowan

2. The Polished Hoe by Austin Clarke

3. Angelology by Danielle Trussoni

4. Incendiary by Chris Cleave
